new prints
This print was inspired by a long distance collaboration with my son, the Playwright/Director Evan Silver, who adapted the folk tale of "The Heron and the Fish" as a contemporary mystical dance play, which was performed at the Purnati Center for the Arts in Bali, and also at the Agung Rai Museum of Art. When we visited Evan in SE Asia in early 2017, he talked about this seed of an idea that was to become the Heron and the Fish, and I attacked an etching plate with my own version, which ended up on his poster (this was a surprise to me - I thought he had already chosen his poster artist). I was quite taken by the frightening and beautiful heron mask Evan carved for his one of his lead dancers, which of course then makes an appearance in many of my own prints of the past 9 months.
